Path to Freedom

R-GROUPS is based upon a simple discipleship strategy rooted in a Christ Centered 12 step approach to recovery. The 12 steps represent God’s process for transformation and when they are applied to one’s life

a person will experience deliverance from addiction and learn to live a fully productive new life in Christ.

01

We admitted we were powerless over our addiction (sin) and our lives had become unmanageable.

“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.” (Proverbs 104:12)

02

We came to believe that Jesus victory over the grave sets us free from the power of our addiction (sin) and raises us to new life.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

03

We made a decision to surrender our lives to Jesus and to follow Him with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength.

“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.”  (Mark 8:35)

04

We invited the Holy Spirit to take a thorough inventory of our inner life to prepare our heart and mind to receive the healing power of God’s grace.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalms 139:23-24)

05

We experienced the unconditional love of God as we transparently shared our sin and shame with God and someone we trust.

“Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16)

06

We became willing to allow God’s perfect love to drive out our fears, resentments and heal our broken heart.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.” (1 John 4:18)

07

We brought the full measure of our brokenness, sin and shame to throne of Grace and humbly asked Jesus to transform our life from the inside out.

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”  (Psalms 51:1-2)

08

We identified all those we had hurt in order to seek forgiveness and reconcile our past and present relationships.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18)

09

We began the journey of repairing our relationships by forgiving as Jesus did, those who hurt us and sought the forgiveness of those we harmed.

Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

10

We continued to invite the Holy Spirit to reveal our weaknesses and transform our heart and mind through the Word of God.

“Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

11

We cultivated an intimate relationship with God through solitude, prayer and meditation.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (Matthew 22:37)

12

Having been transformed by applying these biblical principles to the Path of Freedom, I embraced my call to bring this message to those who are still suffering.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
